December Newsletter 2021

Dear Parents,

We made it!! It’s hard to believe that Christmas has finally come.  It has definitely been a long few months since we started in September.  However, we have remained safe and well and for that we are all so grateful.

A few thank you’s:

1.To the Board of Management: A huge thank you to the Board of management for all their support and guidance over the past year.

2.To you as parents and families: We cannot thank you enough for your support over the past year.  Once again this has been a year like no other with a global pandemic to contend with.  We are so grateful for how careful you have been regarding keeping the children at home if they have colds or any other symptoms.  This has ensured that we have been able to stay open and keep everyone safe.

3.To the Staff of Boher N.S.: On a personal note I would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs. Coyne, Mrs. Heavey, Sarah, Theresa, Mary and our newly appointed caretaker Stephen for the immense effort that has gone into the last year.  We are delighted to welcome Stephen Sheil to our Boher staff and we wish him the very best in his new role.  I’m blessed to be surrounded by such a hard working and conscientious group of people.

4.To the children: Thank you for your patience during what has been a very difficult few months.  Firstly, the children were so good to get their work done while they were at home before the summer.  Since we have come back they    adopted all sanitising procedures without question and understand the need   for social distance.  All the senior room have adapted so well to mask wearing. We are so proud of you all and we have no doubt that Santa will have you all on his “Nice” list.

5.A few dates!!

1 Christmas Holidays: We will close next Wednesday, 22nd December at 12pm.  We reopen on Thursday, 6th January 2022 at 9.20am.

2 February Midterm Break: Thursday 24th and Friday 25th February 2022.

3 St Patricks Day, Thursday 17th and Friday 18th March 2022

4 Easter Holidays:  School closes on Friday 8th April and will reopen Monday 25th April at 9.20am.

5 First Holy Communion:  Saturday 7th May at 1pm in Boher Church. We have nobody for Confirmation this year.

6 Precautionary measures for after Christmas: As a precaution for after Christmas, we have made the decision to send home the books with the children so that they will be prepared in the event of a change in Governments approach to dealing with the new Covid variants. We are also sending home new Seesaw passwords for each child as last years ones will no longer work.  We need to update our permission slips so we would appreciate it if they could be signed and sent back into the school next week. We really hope that these measures will not be needed but w would rather be prepared in advance than reactionary in our response should they be required.

Finally we would like to wish you all a very happy, healthy and peaceful Christmas and a safe, healthy and happy New Year.

Thanking you all,

Carol White
